Instructional Support Staff
Summary:
Assists teacher in the classroom with daily instructional and non-instructional activities.
Qualifications:
Preferred:
High School Diploma or equivalent; two years of classroom instructional support experience such as CPR, Behavior Management, First Aid, Universal Health process; ability to operate computers, and to utilize email and internet, and software applications.
In addition, Instructional Support Staff must meet one of the following three criteria to be considered highly qualified:
1.
Complete at least 60 hours credit toward a college diploma; or 2.
Obtain an associate's (or higher) degree; or 3.
Demonstrate, through a formal academic assessment test or obtain within six months of employment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics.

Responsibilities:
Other duties may be assigned.
1.
Follow directions of the certified staff and assist in the maintenance of a learning environment.
2.
Research the web for educational materials to be used in the classroom.
3.
Read and be familiar with student, district, building and classroom procedures.
4.
Read and familiarize oneself with and maintain student confidentiality as prescribed in the Family Educational & Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA).
5.
Complete the following as directed by the certified staff:
Maintain student safety in all situations; Set up the classroom for the day; Engage in student activities to include assist students participate in activities in classroom and in other locales as needed; Transport students to and from classroom; Assist in transferring students to and from wheelchair, physically assist student to move about the classroom/building, positioning program; Position children in adaptive equipment/alternative seating; Perform/assist students with grooming, personal hygiene/toileting; Assist with meal preparation/feeding; Clean and disinfect classroom; Assist with maintenance of school and student equipment; Assist with group motor activities; Assist with redirection & intervention of student behaviors as needed:
Assist transportation providers, loading and unloading students with special transportation devices; Provide bus support; Collect and maintain student data in reports and charts used in assessing student growth; Complete required documentation, i.

, Medicaid billing, classroom data; Complete office duties such as filing, categorizing, laminating, etc; Position Opening INTERNAL/EXTERNAL Prepare bulletin boards and other materials for student use; Dispense medications, when required, per district procedures and with the approval and/or direction of certified staff.

Work under numerous therapists in a variety of building and settings, provide unskilled therapy with students and supervise students while they are doing independent exercise programs.
7.
Participates in professional development and training programs deemed appropriate by and with the approval of the administration.
8.
Essential functions of the job are expected to be done onsite.
9.
Be present in buildings with regular and continued attendance and punctuality.
10.
Follow all Board Policies, Staff Handbook and Administrative Guidelines.
SALARY:
Bay-Arenac Education Support Personnel Association (MESPA) salary schedule.
Commensurate with candidate's educational and experience background.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
